DISABILITY INCLUSIVE

Jesus was always concerned about people who faced challenges of one sort or another. Our aim is to reflect that in how our church responds to each person who steps across our threshold. Here is a list of information which may be important for people who, for example, may have poor sight, limited hearing or mobility difficulties.

  • All on one level

There are no steps to the church door if you enter by the Cantelupe Road entrance. (There are steps at the Lionel Road entrance.) The path leading from the pavement in Cantelupe Road to the church door is wide and flat. There is very small slope from the pavement onto the path, about 5cm (2 inches) in height and width; wheelchairs and walkers cross this easily. The entrance into the church is all on one level. Inside the church, again, everything is on one level including access to the toilet for people with disabilities, and access to the refreshment area. There is room in the porch where you can park a mobility walker or wheelchair, and an area immediately outside the church for parking mobility scooters.

If you need to bring a mobility walker or scooter, or a wheelchair into the church, then we will happily make space for you.

  • Hearing loop

There is a hearing loop system in the church. Please ask at the door for a seat which is in the best position to use the hearing loop.

  • Larger print hymn books

If you want a hymn book with larger print, they are available at the door.

  • Seats with arms

If you need a seat with arms, all you have to do is ask.

  • Local rail station step free

If you are travelling by train, Bexhill Station is step free, but the ramps leading up to the station entrance are rather steep. There are cabs waiting outside.
