Helpful Information
WHO IS JESUS?
There is a fool proof way to answer the question, Who is Jesus? Look at what Jesus himself says.
In the Bible, Jesus asks his friends: “Who do you say I am?” When one of them replies, “You’re the Christ, the Messiah, the Son of the living God”, Jesus says, “God himself let you in on this secret of who I really am."
-
Christ and Messiah are names that mean God chose Jesus for a special purpose – to bring us all back into a perfect relationship with God. Our closest relationships with friends and family are fantastic. But a close relationship with God is breath-taking, satisfying us in a way that no other relationship can.
-
The Son of the living God – this name speaks of the close, devoted and loving relationship Jesus has with God.
Yes, Jesus is a miracle-working, life-transforming Son of the living God, but he is also the human Jesus, who wants a close friendship with us, who knows what we are going through and cares about us.
That’s why the Bible also calls Him “Emmanuel”, which means “God with us”.
HOW DO I BECOME A CHRISTIAN?
A Christian is a person who promises to follow Jesus, and to think and behave like Him. As a follower of Jesus, God offers us forgiveness and freedom, and comes and lives within us.
To become a Christian, you need to take a step of faith. This is not blind faith. It is putting our trust in a person, Jesus. A way in which you can take this step of faith right now involves three simple words: sorry, thank you and please.
-
Sorry
Ask Jesus to forgive you for all the wrong things you have done. Then promise to turn away from these wrong things. This is what the Bible means by ‘repentance’.
-
Thank you
Christians believe that Jesus died on the cross 2000 years ago so that they could be set free. Thank Jesus for dying for you and for his free gifts of forgiveness and freedom, and thank him for wanting to come and live within you too.
-
Please
You need to say "Yes, please" and accept these free gifts of forgiveness and freedom, and ask Jesus to come and live within you.

If you would like to have a relationship with God and are ready to say these three things, here is a prayer you can pray which will begin your new life in Jesus Christ.

Lord Jesus Christ,
I am sorry for the things I have done wrong in my life (take a few moments to ask for forgiveness for anything that comes to mind).
Please forgive me.
I now turn from everything which I know to be wrong.
Thank you that you died on the cross for me so that I could be forgiven and set free.
Thank you that you offer me forgiveness and the gift of new life in you.
I now receive that gift.
Please come into my life so that you are with me forever.
Thank you Lord Jesus. Amen.
WHAT NOW?
If you have prayed and asked Jesus into your life, begin to read the Bible, perhaps starting in the New Testament with the Book of Mark, and talk to God each day (pray).
Finding a church you feel comfortable in is very important.
If you wish to come and join us, please contact us. You are always more than welcome! Tell us you are a new Christian and we’ll make sure we pray for you and point you in the right direction for good websites and books for your new journey with Christ.
JAN'S STORY
I have always been a Christian really, having grown up in a strong Irish Catholic family. However, my faith took a knock when my baby daughter died, but never went completely away. Years later, when my husband was dying of cancer, I met some people from the Free Church in the village where we lived. They invited me to prayer meetings; something I had never taken part in before. I was invited to a lunch where Fiona Castle (wife of entertainer Roy Castle) was to be the speaker. On the morning, I decided not to go, but something made me go anyway. While listening to her, I had an amazing feeling and I am quite sure I was touched by the Holy Spirit. Life was very hard as my husband was dying but I just felt strong and have never felt alone since that day.
ANDREW'S STORY
At the age of 17, I went to my older brother's baptism. I'd been to church before, but I'd never made any commitment to follow Jesus. I was very moved by the baptism and during the final hymn, the minister called forward any people who thought that God was speaking to them. I couldn't get out of my seat quick enough. I went forward and was prayed for. It was a very special moment. I felt God take hold of my life.
